The Secret Harbour Story
March 7, 1996 @ 12:13 in the afternoonI was cruising remote out islands in the West Indies known as the Exumas; I maneuvered my way between several shallow reefs to make way into a secret harbour
The anchorage is the lee of Cambridge Cay located at Lat 248 11' N X 768 31' E. I dropped the anchor in the turquoise blue water so clear and calm that sand dollars can be seen scattered about the white sandy bottom. When I shut the engines down; there is a beautiful silence; all that can be heard is the sound of the ocean breaking gently on the windward side of the island. The trade winds are warm and gentle, it is about 27 degrees as I dived off the upper deck into the warm water to swim ashore.
It was at this moment, sitting on the most perfect beach with the most beautiful scenery, that inspiration for the Secret Harbour range of vessels struck. It became my destiny to build a boat that was as beautiful as the scenery and perfectly equipped to explore these secret harbours without disturbing the tranquility.
From that day on I dreamt of bringing my children to such places and having long holidays there. Just imagine months on end of fishing, diving and exploring! But locations such as these are very remote; until now you either needed a mega yacht, a big ugly trawler or a slow sail boat to get there, none of these were an option for me.
This is why over a decade of design and research has gone into the Secret Harbour range of motor yachts and the Australia Yachts business plan. For over 12 years my career has been focused on fulfilling my destiny.
