THE ORIGINS OF THE SECRET HARBOUR 46 HULL
The seas off the West Australian coastline are notoriously rough and remote with long distances between safe havens. Out of the Australian cray fishing industry an exceptional boat was developed to meet the physical challenges of the most isolated region on the planet.
The cray boats are;
- Fast because they have a lot of distance to cover
- Safe to meet the unavoidable rough conditions
- Reliable because there are probably no rescue boats in range
- Tough because the boats drop their pots close to the reef and a sneaker set will sometimes wash them up on it.
Designed by Mark Ellis and built to commercial survey 2B, the Secret Harbour 46 is designed to run all day at 26 knots, have a fully loaded top speed of 31 and a 1300 mile range at a reduced speed thanks to its lighter and stronger hull
